I love birth. I love babies. I love the earth and the wisdom in creation. I love empowering families to make their own well informed decisions . I enjoy helping women see the wisdom in their own body. Embracing the unique relationship of trust I build with my clients, my aim is to contribute to the community by providing true informed consent and empowerment to the family unit as a whole. Families value the lessons in their own experience when given the dignity to choose and decide rather than having their health options dictated.
I am a wife and mother of four incredible children.
My birth experiences raised many questions in my mind. In pregnancy I felt vulnerable, fearful and I didn’t know I had birthing options and choices. I left my decisions about my ycare and my life in the hands of my care providers as if the accountability belonged to them.
I needed to reach out to others like me.
I began my journey into the birth working world in 2009 believing I could help change the alarming number of health disparities especially among women of
color. Like many of today’s midwives, I started out as a doula, growing into a midwife through many hours of schooling and years of hands on learning and training. I graduated from Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery.
I gained valuable experience learning in hospital, home birth and several busy birth center settings serving many happy families.
Some certifications include Lactation, CPR/Neonatal Resuscitation, Blood Borne Pathogen certification for Placenta Encapsulators, HIPPA Compliance,
Through various apprentiships and on the job training I had the honor of being mentored by some of the most amazing midwives in California.
Under Licenced Supervision I manage pregnancies from beginning to end, catching babies and attending to postpartum clients in and around Los Angeles, Long Beach, Burbank,.
Growth and Empowerment happen through knowledge. I enjoy reaching out in the community. By providing awareness and health options to underprivileged youth my goal is to encourage young ones early in life to make healthy decisions. The courses I teach include contraceptive measures, self care, health and nutrition. Many have been victims of violence, rape. Some have been poorly educated, subjects of poverty and neglect. These factors perpetuate the cycle of abuse, violence and hate.
People do better when they learn better.
A Hero’s birth - Welcoming the newest addition to their family, with sibling anticipation and participation..
Actor Wesley Johnathan and his wife Tamara tell their birth experience
“I had a very empowering birth with Sherrie. It was my first child and I didn’t know if I’d be able to do it without the help of an epidural. Sherrie and her team prepared me as best as they could for the experience, leaving me with a sense of calm and confidence I didn’t know I had. While I was pushing and saying out loud that I couldn’t do it, that I couldn’t get this baby to the other side, Sherrie gave me her hand and quietly and firmly reassured me I could. She shepherded me into these first incredible acts of motherhood and me and my family are forever grateful for it.” - Samara
“We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Its still such an incredible thing to wrap my head around, pushing this amazing life out of me. Thank you so much for everything. It was awesome. “ - Dominique
“Sherrie you carry a depth, strength. And courage that is evident in your life as a wife, mom of 4 and incredible midwife! You encourage so many women in their journey of womanhood and I’m thankful you were part of mine. You are the first medical professional who had to administer a needle where I didn’t faint, sweat or panic. I felt safe and cared for! I know you’ll continue to care for others who might have had similar experience as me. Thank you.” - S. Hahn
